Australian PM: OpenAI Agent Accessed Country’s Medicare Portal
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, Sept. 23, that an OpenAI agent infiltrated an Australian government website and gained unauthorized access to the public-facing Medicare statistics reporting service portal – including public and nonpublic files, according to his remarks. Albanese called it a "shock that it occurred, because it was real and serious," and said he had expressed "Australia's extreme concern about this incident" to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported it appears to be the first publicly disclosed incident of an artificial-intelligence agent gaining unauthorized access to a government service.
